The Asante Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c)3 corporation. We are supported by governmental grants, corporations, business leaders and public donations. Our mission is to celebrate the positive contributions of our community, individuals and cultures through festivals and awards recognition; including promotion, education, preservation and encouragement for continued growth of Jazz, Gospel Music, Art, Movies, Music, and Spokenword as well as to recognize and honor those who make positive contributions in our community outside of the arts.

The Asante Awards is a celebration of the pinnacles in creativity of peoples of African descent. It was formed out of the desire to celebrate the contributions that many citizens have made (with little to no recognition) by acknowledging, giving thanks (Asante), and presenting them with awards. The Asante Awards and Festival will showcase local poets, musicians, artists and professionals in various disciplines. The Awards and Festival will be  held in New Orleans. Additionally, the Awards will be video-streamed on NOLA.Tv to reach a worldwide internet audience.
